Karen Paulson Rivet
Karen Paulson Rivet began her training with the Andahazy School of Classical Ballet and is dedicated to the rich traditions of the Russian Method, on which she bases her teaching. She has been teaching in the Twin Cities for over 30 years and has extensive knowledge in ballet pedagogy and character technique. Ms. Paulson Rivet has been on staff at many ballet schools including the Saint Paul Conservatory For Performing Artists and Minnesota Dance Theatre. Ms. Paulson is in demand as a master guest teacher through out Minnesota. She continued her studies in pedagogy with Vaganova Teaching Seminars in Illinois and Minnesota. Ms. Paulson Rivet traveled to the Vaganova Academy in St. Petersburg, Russia for additional information, which included class observation and private coaching sessions with Maryinsky Ballet Principal Dancers. Ms. Paulson Rivet augmented her training with coaching from Gabriela Komleva, Marina Stavitskaya and Carol Roderick. In addition, Ms. Paulson Rivet attended a body analysis workshop at Oberlin University.
During her performing career she danced solo roles in Les Sylphides, Pas de Quatre, Giselle, and Loyce Houlton’s Nutcracker Fantasy. Ms. Paulson is known for her staging of the classical ballets Les Sylphides , Pas de Quatre pas de trios from Swan Lake. She is the artistic director/choreographer of A Christmas Carol, The Ballet created for Saint Paul City Ballet. Ms. Paulson’s choreography has been performed at the Minnesota Fringe Festival, The Saint Paul Conservatory For Performing Artists and the professional division of the Minnesota Dance Theatre School. Her performing experience includes solo roles in Les Sylphides, Pas de Quatre, Giselle, Scheherezade and many other classical and character ballets. Ms. Paulson continues to perform with her most recent performing experiences including Minnesota Dance Theatre’s Nutcracker Fantasy, Continental Ballet’s Coppelia and Cinderella, and the Minnesota Fringe Festival
