Julie Holscher is a Twin Cities based teacher, choreographer and dancer. Though she trained in various styles of dance starting at age 5, she found her passion and talent with tap. She has continued her training over the years by attending various local and out of state conventions, taught by many famous and well renowned choreographers. Julie has danced with several groups/events including: University Repertory Dance Theater (MNSU-Mankato), Minnesota State Fair, Tappin’ in the Twin Cities, Timberwolves Halftime Show, Ordway Gala Fundraiser, Mall of America’s 10th Birthday Celebration, Disneyland Theme Parks, Minneapolis Fringe Festival, and Rhythmically Speaking. Julie has also received several choreography awards at various competitive dance events. She spent this past summer training with Human Rhythm Project’s- Rhythm World in Chicago. Her tap dancers have won top overall awards at regional and national competitions; including top soloist in the Grand Nationals and overall placement in the State Fair Grandstand Talent Competition.
Julie attended college at the U of M- Twin Cities and MSU- Mankato. She has her Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and Speech Communication and is bilingual in Spanish. Her eminence and passion for teaching tap is easy to see when her dancers get on stage. She believes hard work, dedication, and the love of dance will take you far. Julie and her husband Juan Alvarez reside in Coon Rapids and they are blessed with 2 little boys, Mateo and Emilio.
